Is India Ready for Digital India...
My answer to this question is "No." India is not at all ready for this so advertised "Digital India". I am not saying from any political perspective, 'Right or Left'. My opinion is based on my own experience during this lock down period.
I hold a bank account of a private bank. Not a PSU or Cooperative Bank. I live in a city of twenty lakhs population. The mobile network is weak, though the service provider charges its full charges, whether the network is available, strong or weak.
All banking operations like Net Banking or Mobile Banking require strong mobile net work. Government, both Central and State continuously advising 'Stay at Home". Use digital banking.
I face problem in net banking, so I complained to bank. No reply received. I contacted Customer Care by email, reply was due to locked down, we are unable to attend to you. Called up Toll Free number, after listening a Corona advertisement for couple of minutes, I was asked to click various numbers to reach to On Line Customer Executive and then, told he is busy and wait. After waiting for almost ten minutes, a recorded message played, we are unable to help you.
I sent Tweet to bank by tagging RBI, no use. Tagged Finance Minister and CM Office, no response. I sent email to Collector, Aurangabad. No response. I tagged local MP, no response.
Probably, governments are more worried about populistic work. In fact, the percentage of working class is about 35% of total population and percentage of unorganized workforce is 95% of that. So, why government is focusing more on that 35%? What about remaining population? How government will make administration more responsible and accountable? How institutions like banks will become more "People Oriented and responsive"?
How government will upgrade mobile network and bandwidth to make it easy to use so called apps like much talked about "BHIM" App? Only by advertising and TV slogans India cannot become "Digital India".
